I hiked a 6-mile loop where I stopped at overlooks along the east and west rims to take in the scenic views of the bordering canyons and the Colorado River.

The name of the park is attached to a legend where cowboys rounded up wild mustangs, herded them across the narrow neck of land, and onto the point. They then fenced off the neck with branches and brush, it being only 30 yards wide, to create a natural corral otherwise encircled by steep cliffs. The cowboys took some of the horses and left the others captured on the waterless point where they died of thirst.
