Cathedral Gorge State Park - Panaca, NV

Cathedral Gorge State Park contains many rock formations and slot canyons created over millions of years by volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and erosion. In the 1890s, Mrs. W.S. Godbe from the nearby mining camp called Bullionville thought the area's siltstone spires resembled European cathedrals which prompted her to suggest the name Cathedral Gulch. It was later changed to Cathedral Gorge.

In order to experience the dramatic landscape, I hiked a 3-mile loop within an area of the park called Juniper Draw, explored the slot canyons named Cathedral Cave and Moon Caves, and visited Miller's Point Scenic Overlook.
