I completed a 5-mile roundtrip hike to Burstarse Falls near Castella, CA. From the trailhead I had a relatively short and moderately steep climb.
The trail leveled out once I reached a section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) which offered a lot of shade with a few excellent views through gaps in the trees.

Along the way I saw a wide variety of plants that made this area their home.

The last leg alongside Burstarse Creek required me use a barely discernible trail to scramble up a very steep incline strewn with boulders and loose rocks.

The waterfall was a bit disappointing since the water was little more than a trickle.

However, that did allow me to investigate parts of the creek bed with its multiple pools of water amid exposed rock.
