Russian Gulch State Park - Mendocino, CA

I did a nice 6.2-mile hike on a mostly overcast day. Fern Canyon was filled with green wherever I looked. The trail made its way through not only the canyon's namesake, but many other interesting plants as well.

I followed along Russian Gulch Creek and eventually entered a forest of old growth trees.

Most of these trees towered high above me. Some of the younger ones began their lives with the aid of their predecessors.

A variety of flowers in bloom dotted the green and brown background with bits of vivid color.

The creek had a drop-off that formed Russian Gulch Falls. It made for an enjoyable spot to take a break.
