Stewart Falls - Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, UT

Alyssa Woodall and I met and got to know each other while we worked together at the Shasta Historical Society in Redding, CA. We both left the organization at about the same time. She moved to Utah and took a job at the Park City Museum.

During my visit, she showed me the museum, we took a ski chairlift up a mountain to see the buildings at the Silver King Mine which the museum is trying to save and preserve. And we hiked to Stewart Falls near Sundance.

The mountains that rise above Park City, Heber City, Midland, and the surrounding area are impressive, even when partially obscured by smoke from distant wildfires. I'll have to come back to see them when they're covered in snow.

A good portion of the hike was shaded which was nice in the summer heat.

At other times, the trees gave way to smaller greenery.

And at multiple spots along the trail, we were afforded nice views both near and far.

Among the plants were a mixture of bushes, weeds, and wildflowers.

As we got closer, the voice of the waterfall mix emerged from the background and overtook the sound of the wind.

Although there were quite a few people at the waterfall (and on the trail), the crowding did not take away from the beauty around us.

Many people came prepared with water shoes, towels, and even a change of clothes so they could walk under the cascading cold water of the lower portion of the falls. Alyssa and I contented ourselves with "just" standing near the base where its mist cooled us off.

We also investigated the creek that flowed away from the waterfall.
