 Palouse Falls State Park

Palouse Falls are beautiful in their own right.

When you broaden the lens through which you view them and consider the setting within the basalt rock canyon, they also become even more intriguing.

I can only imagine what the falls and river look like earlier in the year when the water is flowing at full force.

Palouse Scenic Highway

The Palouse Scenic Highway offers a peaceful drive with impressive views of interesting rock formations and countless rolling hills covered in grasses and crops, especially wheat.

I wanted to view the terrain from Steptoe Butte which provides panoramic views of the surrounding area. Unfortunately, it's closed for several months. So, I had to view the patchwork of fields, plants, and crops without the aerial perspective.

It was a windy day which made the green grass and brown wheat dance. At one point, I pulled over and recorded the wind blowing through the grasses. The hillside seemed to be alive. Or I imagined creatures were rushing by just beneath the surface. If you watch the video, turn down the volume first as the wind noise might be annoying.
