Pillars of Rome - Rome, OR

While driving east on Hwy 78 on my way to Rome, Oregon, I came across this narrow lava rock trench at mile marker 50. I found it interesting enough to pull over and take a closer look.

Less than a 5-minute drive from Hwy 95 in southeastern Oregon are these interesting rock formations. Their shape and color do make one think of the buildings and white marble columns of Ancient Rome.
