The tour was a 2.5-hour train ride from Hood River to Pine Grove and back. We began near the Columbia River, followed along and crossed the Hood River, and then made its way up into farm country.

The layover included a stop at a farm and views of Mount Hood and Mount Adams (although they were mostly shrouded in clouds this day). One could also do a little shopping, have lunch, or attend a wine tasting.

During the trip, I had nice conversations with a person from Ohio and two people from Minnesota.
