Bridal Veil - Columbia River Gorge, OR

I hiked the Wahkeena and Multnomah Falls Loop Trail from which I was able to see six waterfalls.

I parked at Wahkeena Falls and then hiked counterclockwise. This took me to Multnomah Falls first and Wahkeena Falls last. I did this because I wanted to see Multnomah Falls early before any crowd built up at its viewpoints.

I enjoyed viewing Multnomah Falls from the bottom...

...and from Benson Bridge.

Then I began the uphill climb which included 11 steep and long switchbacks to the top of the falls.

It was an interesting perspective to see Benson Bridge and the ground below from the top of the falls.

Multnomah Creek as it makes its way to the top of the falls also makes for a nice setting. It makes a good place to rest and maybe have a snack.

From the top of Multnomah Falls, I continued to climb (although not as steeply) and make my way over rocky ground along Multnomah Creek.

The next waterfall I came to was Dutchman Falls. I actually missed it at first because it was so small and mostly hidden from the trail. And the photo only captures part of Dutchman Falls as it is really a series of small falls.

Just a short way up the trail was Wiesendanger Falls.

And then came Ecola Falls, the third of the falls in fairly quick succession.

After Ecola Falls, I continued to climb until finally reaching the high point of the trail. From there, it was all downhill back to the trailhead.

When I'm hiking, I'm always on the lookout for something, no matter how big or small, that stands out in the beautiful surroundings. On this hike, a small plant and exceptional trail maintenance caught my eye.

The first waterfall I came to following from the hike's acme was Fairy Falls.

During my final descent, I was awarded a nice view of the Columbia River.

While Wahkeena Falls was the last of the six waterfalls I saw this day, it was by no means the least.
