Cape Perpetua
I stayed two and a half days in the Cape Perpetua Campground in a nice spot (one of the relatively few flat ones) next to a creek and at the end of the campground. I felt spoiled as the campground was at most a quarter full during my stay.

I walked 20 minutes to the ocean twice in the evening a couple of hours before sunset and once in mid-morning. I chose the times to arrive close enough to high tide for good action of the natural wonders and also have decent lighting for the photography. There was a bit of a compromise.
I again felt spoiled as I took in these wonderful sights with less than 10 other people each time. It almost felt like I had everything all to myself. I know it won't be that way in the summer.
Waves Crash |
The waves crashing on the black rock were impressive.

Thor's Well
Thor's Well |
Thor's Well is a hole in the rock, likely a collapsed sea cave, where the sea water spews forth into the air as well as drains away seemingly never to return...until the next wave arrives.

Thor's Well at Sunset |
I viewed Thor's Well from different points including only a few feet from it.

Enjoy seeing Thor's Well in action!
Spouting Horn
The crashing waves will shoot through a crevice in the rocks and send a mist of saltwater up into the air.

Devil's Churn
The main trail was closed to see Devil's Churn so I couldn't visit during my walks. The one time I drove, the sea was too calm to view any good action.
